NIN Database Exceeds 66 Million as FG Extends NIN-SIM Linkage

The Federal Government has further extended the deadline for the NIN-SIM linkage to the end of 2021.

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, FNCS, FBCS, FIIM, said the postponement of the deadline was based on the request by mobile network operators and stakeholders to ensure better compliance with the government’s directive and to avoid widening the digital divide.

The extension would also provide an enabling environment for the registration of those in hard-to-reach remote areas, foreigners and diplomatic missions, diaspora, schools, and health centers.

It’s noteworthy to say that significant progress has been made in the NIN-SIM verification process. With the total now at over 66 million Nigerians enrolled for the NIN, with an average of three to four SIMs per NIN. With over 9,500 enrolment systems and over 8,000 NIN enrolment centers within and outside the country as of 30th of October 2021 and more coming up.

Citizens and legal residents were urged to make use of the opportunity to complete the process of enrolment and verification.

The Minister on behalf of the Nigerian Government has thanked Nigerians for their patience and compliance with the Federal Government’s directive on the NIN-SIM registration exercise.
