NIN Database Exceeds 59 Million as FG Extends NIN-SIM Linkage

The Federal Government has further extended the deadline for the NIN-SIM linkage to the 31st of October, 2021.

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, FNCS, FBCS, FIIM, said the postponement of the deadline was based on the request by stakeholders to accommodate registration in hard to reach remote areas, foreigners and diplomatic missions, diaspora, schools, and health centers.

It’s noteworthy to say that significant progress has been made in the NIN-SIM verification process. With the total now at over 59 million Nigerians enrolled for the NIN, with an average of three to four SIMs per NIN.

Citizens and legal residents were urged to make use of the opportunity to complete the process of enrolment and verification. Nigerian citizens living in the diaspora will be able to get their NINs with several enrolment centers outside the country, and more coming up.

The Federal Government is excited at the news that NIN is used in the process of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam. It also commends the Kano State government and other states that have made NINs a key need for school enrolments and access to other important services.

The Minister on behalf of the Nigerian Government has thanked Nigerians for their patience and compliance with the Federal Government’s directive on the NIN-SIM registration exercise.
