Mozilla is Shutting Down its Password Manager App

Mozilla has announced that it will discontinue its Firefox Lockwise password manager app on December 13th. The iOS version 1.8.1 and Android version 4.0.3 will be the last release for the app and will no longer be available to download or reinstall after that date.

The first release of the app was in 2019, which provides a password manager-like design to the login sync functionality in Firefox. The Lockwise app could function as an autofill provider on Android and iOS allowing you to fill in passwords in the other apps with logins saved in a Firefox Sync account.

The app was also later adapted as a Firefox extension. It seemed like it was apt to stick around for the long run.

According to the article, Mozilla will end support for the Firefox Lockwise app on Android and iOS, effective December 13, 2021. You will no longer be able to install or reinstall Firefox Lockwise from the App Store or Google Play Store. iOS version 1.8.1 and Android version 4.0.3 will be the last releases for Firefox Lockwise. The application may continue to work on your device, but it will no longer receive support or security updates.

After December 13, 2021, you can continue to access your saved passwords and your password management in the Firefox desktop and mobile browsers. The article says.
